All Schools and State Offices Statewide Closed Friday Due To Hurricane Iselle

The Hawaii State Department of Education (DOE) will close all public schools and DOE offices statewide on Friday, Aug. 8, in addition to today’s closures on Hawaii Island and Maui County (Maui, Molokai, Lanai). Closures are being made in anticipation of severe weather. Additionally, all inter-scholastic athletic events and student activities are canceled until schools reopen.

Per Governor Neil Abercrombie’s emergency declaration, DOE employees will not be reporting to work. Updates on DOE school closures are available at HawaiiPublicSchools.org. For information on public charter schools, please visit http://www.chartercommission.hawaii.gov/.
